Ducor Petroleum

Tuesday, February 27, 2007

A local petroleum company, Ducor Petroleum Inc. (DP), has endeavored to help reduce Liberia’s high rate of unemployment by establishing branches throughout the country and creating job opportunities.

DP General Manager and CEO, Mr. Amos Brosius, who previously worked for Mobil Oil Liberia Inc., said this was his own way of helping to boost the Liberian economy. DP has established several gas stations throughout the capital and its environs and has also opened branches in five of Liberia’s 15 counties. Plans for further expansion are ongoing.

“At present, our service has gone beyond Liberia, as we are currently supplying neighboring countries like Guinea and hope to do the same with other countries soon, once the support is given us,” he said.

As political stability is being brought back to the country under the leadership of Africa’s first female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian entrepreneurs are making efforts to rebuild their economy that was ruined as a result of civil war.

DP is a subsidiary of the Monrovia Oil Trading Co. (MOT), which was established in 2000 and said to be making great efforts with DP in helping to create and build confidence in the Liberian economy. The setting up of DP’s distribution networks, managed by a staff of trained Liberian professionals, has indeed proven that DP is doing its best to empower Liberians.
