El Feel Expected Back Online Soon

Libya’s battered petroleum sector could see the restart oil production from its El Feel field in the coming days according to reports. The El Feel field was shut in well over a week ago when clashes caused the closure of the neighboring El Sharara field that was taken over by gunmen in early November. Both sites use the same power supply.

A Reuters report quoted NOC spokesman Mohamed El Harari as saying engineers had started technical checks and maintenance work at El Feel. He said that the state-run firm hoped to resume production next week, however the El Sharara field would remain shut as during its restart an unnamed group of people blocked a pipeline preventing NOC from restarting the field.
