Bowleven has commenced drilling of the Sapele-2 well offshore Cameroon in the Douala Basin. The principal objective of the Sapele-2 well is to appraise the Omicron discoveries the company encountered while drilling the Sapele-1 well. The well is being drilled by the Sapphire Driller jack-up rig.

The Sapele-2 well will penetrate both the Lower and Deep Omicron discoveries at a location around 5 km south-west of the Sapele-1 location. The well is scheduled to be drilled to an estimated target depth of about 3,724 meters in water depths of around 25 meters.

Drilling of the Sapele-2, excluding testing, is expected to take approximately 50 to 60 days.
