Sonatrach, the Algerian state-run oil and gas firm, said it was ready to resume exploration drilling in Libya before the end of June. The company’s exploration drilling program was put on hold last year while the battle to oust long time Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi raged across the country.
At the outset of May it was reported that the company would be returning to the country in a matter of days although no timetable was given on the actual resumption of work.
Sonatrach holds stakes in two blocks in Libya’s Ghadames Basin, near the border between the two countries. The company’s first spud following its return will be on Block 65.
