Aggreko, the UK-based temporary power generation company, and its JV partner in South Africa Shanduka Group will supply power to South Africa and neighboring Mozambique. The pair will supply 107 MW of gas-fired power to the two countries.
Aggreko has entered into power purchase deals with South Africa’s Eskom and Mozambique's Electricidade de Mocambique (EDM) to supply electricity from Q3 until July 2014. Eskom will buy 92 MW and EDM the remaining 15 MW.
The deal will have the Aggreko JV build gas interconnections, a substation and a 275 kV transmission line. Part of the infrastructure will go to EDM at the end of the contract. The deal is valued at $250 million over a two-year people.
