The next well in Chariot Oil & Gas’ Namibia program is scheduled to spud this month. The company will drill the Kabelijou 2714/6-1 well to test the Nimrod prospect in the Orange Basin on Southern Block 2714A. Chariot, using the Ocean Rig Poseidon drillship, plans to drill to a total depth of 10,171 ft.
Nimrod is estimated to contain gross mean unrisked prospective resources of 4.9 billion barrels of oil.
Partners in Southern Block 2714A include BP and Petrobras.
Chariot drilled one well offshore Namibia this year to test the Tapir South Prospect on Northern Block 1811A. The well was not as successful as the company was hoping for and was subsequently plugged and abandoned. The company is using the information garnered from the well to improve its understanding of the Namibe Basin.
