The government of Comoros issued a statement regarding claims that an unnamed company has made an agreement for the exploration and production of oil within the territorial waters of Comoros.

"This is in reference to the press release by the Boulle Mining Group dated 6th June 2012 in Marketwire and entitled “Mozambique Channel Discovery Limited: Notice Concerning Comoros Oil and Gas Exploratiion and Technical Assistance Agreement”.  The Government of the Union of the Comoros repudiates any claim by Boulle Mining Group or its subsidiaries to hold an agreement with the Government concerning Oil and Gas Exploration and Technical Assistance.  The Government wishes it to be known that it communicated this fact to Boulle Mining Group on 14th May 2012.

The Government since signing its first exclusive license agreement with Bahari Resources Ltd.continues to hold negotiations with other oil companies for further acreage in the Comoros and invites interested parties to apply for licenses to the Vice President and Ministry charged with Production, the Environment, Energy and Industry, the only mandated authority in this matter."
