Portugal’s Galp Energia has entered into an agreement with Italy’s ENI that will have the Portuguese company participating in a consortium for a block in Mozambique.
While the name of the block was not released as yet, it is known that the block is located offshore the southern African country and covers a total area of 17,000 sq km. Under the agreement with the government, the consortium’s exploration period is for eight years with a production period of 30 years.
The program in the first four years of the exploration period will consist of the acquisition and interpretation of seismic lines.
