Exploration and production laws instituted in Zambia during 1985 are set to be revisited. According to the Minister of Mines and Mineral Development Kalombo Mwansa, by the end of Q1 2008 the government will be ready to launch tenders of oil and gas exploration blocks.

Mwansa said that the amendment to the laws will enable the government to separate exploration and production rights. It is also expected to put tougher environmental restrictions on exploration and production activities.
