On March 29 Statoil said it was considering investing in Libya’s oil and gas industry. “These investigations are well under way,” Statoil said in a statement. “We hope to be able to contribute technical expertise and experience in oil and gas production.”
Last week Royal Dutch/Shell signed a $200 million gas deal with Libya, 20 years after it stopped doing business in the country. The Shell deal coincided with a landmark visit to Tripoli by British Prime Minister Tony Blair marking Libya’s emergence from isolation.
