Monday, November 24, 2014

Cote d’Ivoire is said to be on the verge of closing a deal with US major ExxonMobil for two ultra-deepwater blocks. The PSAs for the two blocks are expected to be finalized in the coming month.

“It’s with Exxon Mobil. We expect to finish discussions before the end of the year,” said Ibrahima Diaby, director of hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Petroleum was cited as saying by Reuters. “A memorandum of understanding was signed for the two ultra-deep blocks and negotiations for the production sharing agreements are very advanced,” he said.

The Ministry conducted a promotional roadshow, hoping to land firms like ExxonMobil. A delegation led by Prime Minister Daniel Kablan and the Oil and Energy Minister landed in Houston during October to promote available offshore oil acreage, including seven new ultra-deepwater blocks in the Gulf of Guinea.
