Gabon Strike Closes Refinery

Thursday, December 4, 2014

Due to the recent strike launched by Gabon’s oil worker union, ONEP, the government has been forced to halt operations at the country’s only refinery.

The 21,000 bpd Sogara refinery’s operations will remain shut-in while ONEP members carry out a sector-wide strike.

“Sogara stopped production yesterday (December 2) at about 14:00,” said Sylvain Mayabi Bine, deputy secretary general at the union ONEP.
