Release

LR Senergy received the Best Oil & Gas Services Award at the 2014 African Achievement Awards Scotland on November 28 for its role in the landmark Ethical Energy Consortium (EEC) that is encouraging energy extraction and regulatory best practise.

On receiving the award, Ian Williamson, commercial vice president at LR Senergy, said: “What we look to do with the EEC, is to improve technical, safety and environmental standards, the quality of decisions and regulation in government organisations, and the capacity of those organisations to grow and become more self-sufficient. We are striving to introduce a best practice model based on good governance, technical expertise, innovative commercial arrangements, and insightful transformation management. This in turn helps investors, the host nations and their citizens, while minimising the environmental impact.

“To receive this endorsement shows that what we are doing is being noticed and providing real value to those looking to grow their energy resources in an equitable manner. The project’s progress is encouraging and many other international institutions are both endorsing and seeking to actively support transformation of national organisations to improve the efficiency of energy developments and infrastructure.

In forming the EEC, LR Senergy joined forces with the United Nations Association Scotland, organisational transformational management specialist, Miascape, and leading international Government advisory firm, Adam Smith International.

The consortium’s over-arching goal is to deliver a framework for ethical and inclusive energy development for developing and emerging Resource Nations. As part of this, the EEC will help to produce deliverable strategies and work to minimise detrimental impact on the environment and ecology.

The EEC also assists in the creation, design, implementation and delivery of ‘best practice’ energy projects. This involves supporting the technical review, surveillance and compliance of licensed projects and delivering an investment approach where economic, social and political implications are considered across the entire life cycle of energy delivery.

Beltus Etchu, chief executive officer of African Forum Scotland, said: “LR Senergy’s work as part of the Ethical Energy Consortium is playing an important role in supporting energy projects in Africa. Their support is making a real difference to communities looking to make the best use of their resources and it is something we warmly commend.”

The African Annual African Achievement Awards Scotland is organised by The African Forum Scotland. The organisation is a social enterprise with the objective of providing recognition for excellence for Africans in Scotland and to provide a learning and best practice platform for African businesses to excel and learn from one another.

The awards ceremony took place at Glasgow’s 200 St Vincent Street Centre.
