Maritime Dispute Affected TEN Development

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

The maritime boundary dispute between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire did have an effect on the development of the TEN oil field, according to Ghana’s President John Mahama.

Mahama, speaking at the opening ceremony for the commencement of production from the development, said that despite the development being affected, Ghana was still committed to a peaceful resolution of the dispute.

“The maritime boundary dispute had impacted TEN development activities in the disputed area as the provisional measures order from the international tribunal included an order prohibiting new oil wells in the field,” Mahama said.

“We remain committed to a peaceful resolution of this dispute, and we look forward to the final resolution of this matter sometime next year.”
