Militants Cause Power Cuts

Tuesday, September 12, 2017

In Libya militants have shut in natural gas coming from the Wafaa oil field. Militants stopped the supply of gas from the field to power plants, causing the need for more power cuts in the country.

State-run utility, General Electric Company of Libya (GECOL), said in a statement that the public electricity network will have to increase the electricity cut times due to the partial closure, which led to the loss of 200 MW daily to the network.

The militants have not disclosed their terms for the release of the natural gas.
