Mozambican Gas Competitive

Friday, April 24, 2015

Speaking at IHS CERAWeek in Houston, ENI CEO Claudio Descalzi said that low natural gas extraction costs in Mozambique will allow the company to produce LNG from its resources off the East African nation at a competitive price.

Descalzi said the company’s LNG facilities would become operational in Mozambique in 2020 and an FID was expected to be taken before the end of the year.

“Mozambique is good because the upstream side is not very expensive,” he said. “It is fast and cheap, so it can be very competitive in the market.”
