Thursday, December 4, 2014

Libya’s internationally recognized government in Tobruk named a new chairman for state-run National Oil Corp. (NOC). Reuters reported Prime Minister Abdullah Al Thinni’s government replaced Mustafa Sanallah with Al Mabrook Bou Seif.

Bou Seif  is said to be from the same tribe as rebel leader Ibrahim Jathran who seized major oil ports in an effort to gain regional autonomy for the east.

Additionally it was it was learned that the rival Libyan governments had both expected to attend the OPEC meeting in Vienna last week; however, OPEC only chose to invite Al Thinni’s government.

In Tripoli, the unrecognized government’s oil minister, Mashallah Zwai told Reuters that if he was not invited to the OPEC meeting, his cabinet would take legal action against OPEC.
