NOC Management Meets over Fighting in Oil Crescent

Thursday, December 8, 2016

Libya’s state-run oil and gas firm, NOC, was conducting ongoing emergency meetings between senior management and subsidiaries regarding reports of fighting in the Oil Crescent area of the country.

Libya’s Oil Crescent is a geographical area that contains the country’s most important oil production installations as well as some export terminals.

“Our first concern is for the safety of our personnel,” said NOC chairman Mustafa Sanalla in a statement on the company’s website. “We condemn any actions that could further damage vital infrastructure. We have not declared force majeure on oil loadings pending further information, but we are monitoring the situation closely.”

On December 7 NOC ordered the initiation of emergency measures near the fighting, including evacuation of all non-essential personnel from Es Sidr port and tank farm, leaving only security and firefighting personnel in place.
