PENGASSAN Strike Threat

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

The Nigerian oil industry is under another strike threat from one of its oil worker unions, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). The union is threatening to strike over the government’s plans to sell national assets.

The union warned that the government should tread lightly when it comes to the sale of assets, despite the fact that several prominent Nigerians have called for the sale to cushion the country’s economic recession.

The union believes the sale to be “unpatriotic” and says it is unethical to sell money making ventures just to solve the country’s short-term economic problem.
