Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Petronas, Malaysia’s state-run oil and gas firm, was one of six companies to be awarded access to acreage put on offer in Gabon’s most recent licensing round. The company signed a PSC with the Gabonese government for Block F14.

The block is located offshore southern Gabon and covers an estimated 2,500 sq km in water depths ranging from 2,000 meters to 3,000 meters. The block lies in Gabon’s deepwater pre-salt play.

Petronas will operate the block with an 80% interest, while the government of Gabon owns the remaining 20% interest.

The signing of the PSC took place in Gabon with Petronas’ VP of Exploration International, Effendy Cheng Abdullah, representing the company. Gabon was represented by Etienne Dieudonne Ngoubou from the Ministry of Petroleum and Hydrocarbons and Christophe Akagha Mba from the Ministry of Economy and Prospective.
