Shell Gabon Sees Strike End

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

The Gabonese workers who have been striking at Shell’s operations in the West African country since January 12, have called an end to the strike. The end of the strike action was brought about when an agreement was struck between the labor union and the government.

Shell, who is selling off its assets in Gabon, produces around 55,000 bpd of oil in the country.

The company’s workers were protesting against potential redundancies from Shell’s plan to sell its Gabon business. Reports have the firm selling its assets to the Carlyle Group.
