Signing of the Japan-Kenya Investment Agreement

Kenya and Japan are set to sign an agreement for the Promotion and Protection of Investment on August 28. The agreement is to be signed by Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and Henry K. Rotich, Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury of Kenya in Nairobi, Kenya

The signing is taking place during the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI).

The agreement is to be signed after five rounds of negotiations that started in June 2013 with the launch of a preparatory meeting. The initiation of negotiations on the bilateral investment agreement was confirmed at the meeting between Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, of Japan and Hon. William Arap Ruto, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, who was visiting Japan to attend the Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V).
