Six Dead in Puntland Roadside Bomb Blast

In Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland, a roadside bomb was hit by a military vehicle on April 23. According to reports out of the region, the roadside bomb left at least six soldiers dead and another eight injured.

Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.

Mohamed Ibrahim, a major in Puntland’s military, told Reuters the vehicle, a pickup truck, was from Galgala hills, about 40 km southwest of Bosasso.

“Our military pickup hit a roadside bomb today, six soldiers died, eight others were injured,” Ibrahim said, adding two of the injured were in a serious condition.
