Monday, September 1, 2014

Sonangol, Angola’s state-run oil and gas firm is moving forward with plans to offer up onshore acreage in the Lower Congo and Kwanza basins after receiving the go ahead from the government.

“The concession included prospecting, exploration, development and production of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons in the KON2, KON4, KON11, and KON12 blocks and allows the national concessionaire to carry out a preliminary assessment of existing resources and determine their potential,” said the country’s Vice Minister of Petroleum, H.E. Aníbal da Silva Aníbal Silva.

The country currently is the continent’s number two producer in terms of volume and is hoping to take over the number one spot from Nigeria in the future.
