SPE Announces First Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Social Responsibility Conference in Africa

Mozambique Now to Host Rescheduled Event 15-17 September, 2014

Maputo, Mozambique (18 August 2014)- The SPE African Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSE) and Social Responsibility Conference and Exhibition will take place 15-17 September, 2014. “Protecting People and the Environment – Getting it Right for the Development of the Oil and Gas Industry in Africa” is the theme of the rescheduled event that originally was to be located in Kenya in June of 2014. Now it will be held at the Polana Serena Hotel in Maputo, Mozambique, with most of the same content and speakers. Registration for attendance, sponsorship and exhibiting is open and accessible on the conference website.

Because the situation in Africa is unique for oil and gas exploration and production, this conference comes at a key time for the region bringing together international and regional HSE experts to discuss developments, strategies, technologies, and case studies with technical sessions focusing on environmental, safety, cultural heritage, health, and sustainability and social responsibility challenges. Additional sessions will cover issues on key countries, projects within them, and what can be learned from past events and evolving strategies. Anticipated attendance comes from all aspects of the oil and gas industry, including service companies, regulators, civil societies, government ministers, and professional organisations assuring valuable networking opportunities. Speakers will present up-to-date information, including current situation analysis, best practices, and research findings during the three-day conference.

Sponsors for the event are AFREN, ERM, Schlumberger, IADC, IPIECA, Oil Review, and Petroleum Africa.
