Release–3sun Group Launches New Inspection Division
3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the energy industry, has expanded with the launch of a new inspection division, 3sun Inspection Services.
3sun Group recently expanded into Aberdeen and new division 3sun Inspection Services will provide customers in the oil and gas sector with a full range of equipment inspection and testing services.
Jody Potter has been appointed to the role of inspection services manager to head up a team of 14 full-time field inspectors. He has more than 15 years’ experience in maintenance, testing and inspection roles and great experience in applying latest legislation and regulations in working practice.
The Great Yarmouth-headquartered group aims to increase its presence in Aberdeen and the North Sea with a number of new jobs being created in the coming months. The base in Aberdeen and a further operational centre in Bergen, Norway, will help support ongoing rapid growth, with turnover predicted to double to £15million this year.
The Group now comprises 3sun, a supplier of instrument and control products and services, 3sun Inspection Services and Oban-based Dawson Energy, an industry leader in delivering installation and maintenance services for wind turbines. Dawson Energy has worked on the construction of the majority of major windfarm projects in the UK both off and onshore.
The launch of the new division means 3sun Group can provide clients with a complete turnkey solution, from design and engineering through to installation, commissioning and maintenance of lifting and pressure equipment, with specific expertise in electro-hydraulic control systems.
Graham Hacon, managing director at 3sun Group, said: “Establishing 3sun Inspection Services marks a major milestone in our strategic plans to expand our oil and gas operations and is an important development for us. By offering lifecycle solutions, our existing and new clients can benefit from a cost-effective approach delivered to the highest HSE and customer service standards. We are confident Jody will lead the team to success and the division has already secured a three-year contract with a major energy company.’’
3sun Group employs 175 staff offshore and onshore and is currently working on several projects in the North Sea. The Group is also involved with construction and service work on wind turbines in Ireland, France, Denmark, Sweden, the USA and New Zealand.
All examinations will meet the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR).
