Agbami on Schedule for June Production

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Production from Chevron’s Agbami oilfield offshore Nigeria is set to begin this month according to the company. Earlier this year the US supermajor said that it expected oil production to begin in June and apparently the company is right on schedule.

The Agbami Field is located approximately 70 miles offshore Nigeria on OPL Block 216 in water depths ranging from 4,200 feet to 5,400 feet. The development of the Agbami is based on a new build Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) system, a nearby Dry Tree Unit (DTU), and subsea wells. The FPSO is a spread moored mono-hull vessel with a storage capacity of 2.0 million barrels. The Agbami development was also the first to use Steel Catenary Risers (SCR) to bring production from the subsea wells. The subsea production risers consist of 10-inch SCRs, and the transfer lines from the DTU to the FPSO are also 10-inch flexible pipe.

The field is scheduled to reach a peak production rate of 250,000 bpd by the end of next year.
