Kenya saw the spud of another offshore well with Anadarko Petroleum’s first of two planned wells for 2013. The last well drilled offshore in the country was the Mbawa-1 well by an Apache Corp.-led JV.
The well, targeting the Kiboko prospect on Block L11B, was spud in mid-January. The second well planned will be spud on Block L7 will target the Kubwa prospect. It is expected that the wells will cost an estimated $100 million each.
The firm is the operator of blocks L7 and L11B and holds 45% stake in each.
