In a regulatory filing US independent Anadarko Petroleum Co. revealed that it would be reducing its employee count. On March 10 the company notified employees of a workforce reduction program to align the size and composition of the company’s workforce with its expected “future operating and capital plans”
While the number of employees being let go was not revealed in the regulatory filing, a company spokesman was cited by Reuters as saying Anadarko planned to let go around 1,000 employees under the workforce reduction program.
Petroleum Africa spoke with one of the company’s international employees in late-February who said at that time “there is a lot of nervousness among employees”; it seems the employees had a reason to be nervous.
