Monday, February 8, 2010

Anadarko is said to be expanding its presence along the East African seaboard adding to its assets in Mozambique and Tanzania with stakes in five Kenyan blocks. Kenya and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. have signed an oil and gas exploration agreement for five offshore blocks in the east African nation’s Lamu Basin according to Kenya’s Saturday Nation.

The deal is reportedly for blocks L5, L7, L11A, L11B and L12. “Anadarko is set to start its work program” Hudson Andambi, senior superintending geologist at the Ministry of Energy was quoted as saying.

The deal was signed in March 2009 according to a high ranking official at the country’s state-owned oil and gas concern, NOCK. The news was apparently kept quiet as Anadarko does not even have a release on its website regarding the award.
