Another Gas Facility Commissioned in Nigeria

Wednesday, December 23, 2020

Under Nigeria’s Year of Gas scheme, President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated another facility aimed at monetizing the nation’s vast natural gas resources. The Oredo LPG Facility was commissioned Tuesday and aims to reduce dangerous flaring and provide much needed resources to the local community, as well as generate $200 million dollars in revenue.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Buhari said: “Today I commissioned an Integrated Gas Handling Facility built & operated by Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), a Subsidiary of NNPC Group, in Oredo, Edo State. It is the largest onshore LPG plant in Nigeria, with the potential of supplying about 20% of Nigeria’s LPG demand.”

He continued: “We are making tremendous progress. We wrapped up 2019 with the Final Investment Decision (FID) for NLNG Train 7, and are now exiting 2020 with this milestone commissioning of the Oredo Integrated Gas Handling Facility, which will support our National Gas Expansion Program.”
