BP Launches Scholarship Competition in Angola

British Petroleum Exploration Angola (BP) is launching a competition for scholarships in Angola today. The launch will take place at the country’s only public university, Agostinho Neto University in Luanda, and is for scholarships for master’s degrees in the sciences in the field of energy. The project is backed by the British Foreign Office and the Faculty of Energy, Oil, and Mining Law of Dundee, UK.

In Angola the company operates in Blocks 18 and 31, and holds shares in Blocks 15 and 17. During its years in Angola the company has funded social projects in the field of agriculture, community capacity building on health care, HIV/AIDS awareness, and road prevention, among others, in the provinces of Bengo, Huambo, Benguela, and Namibe.
