A pipeline operated by Chevron in Nigeria’s Niger Delta saw an explosion on May 13. The blast occurred at a Chevron oil well at the Marakaba pipeline in Warri. This is the second attack on a Chevron facility in Nigeria since the start of May.
The first attack on a Chevron facility took place on its Ofan facility off the coast of Escravos. The militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, claimed responsibility for the attack on Ofan.
In addition, a force majeure has been declared on Qua Iboe crude exports out of Nigeria. The force majeure was declared by ExxonMobil after trouble with a pipeline disrupted supplies.
