Bex, Switzerland November 10, 2006
FEBEX SA, leading manufacturer of ultra pure phosphoric acid for electronics, and the company SULZER CHEMTECH, a leading technology and service provider for separation and mixing technology, announce the launch of a cooperation venture to develop a new technology for recycling waste phosphoric acid from the manufacture of flat screens.
"The need for electronic phosphoric acid in etching agents for semi-conductors in flat screens (LCD) has increased virtually fivefold since 2002 " declared Thierry VASSALO, FEBEX General Manager. " Given that this is an extremely competitive market, our customers are very vigilant about production costs, and research into the recycling of phosphoric acid waste, with a view to reintroducing it into the process, is one of their top priorities. "
FEBEX SA benefits from extensive experience in the manufacture, testing and marketing of ultra high quality pure phosphoric acid. SULZER CHEMTECH LTD, a member of the Sulzer Corporation with headquarters in Winterthur, Switzerland, is recognized as a world leader in the field of mass transfer. Sulzer Chemtech employs over 1,500 people worldwide, and has facilities in most major industrial centers.
"We are delighted with this association between two Swiss flagship technology companies within their own field ", continued Thierry VASSALO. " The joint working group is enthusiastic and full of ideas; we are confident of achieving tangible and viable economic results within the next few months."
Manfred STEPANSKI from SULZER added: "The purification process is based on our melt crystallization process that is already a proven technology for the production of ultra high quality pure phosphoric acid."
