EGPC has awarded firms access to new blocks as a result of its last licensing round. Companies winning access to new acreage in Egypt are Shell, BP, Apache, and Apex International Energy Corp.
Apache was awarded concessionin two areas, the northwest Razzaq and the Shawish. The company will initially invest $60.6 million and drill 10 wells in the Razzaq area and another $12 million will go to drill four wells in the Shawish.
Apex scored blocks 8 and 9 or the West Badr El Din and the South East Meleiha blocks. The company will spend over $19 million on drilling three wells in the West Badr El Din and at least $5.26 million on three wells in South Meleiha.
BP was awarded the Northeast Ramadan concession and will invest $46 million to drill three wells. Shell is to drill seven wells the northern provinces of the country for a total investment of a minimum of $35.5 million.
