Kenya may be able to add more resources to those discovered already as ERHC Energy Inc. and Cepsa have encouraging results from their Tarach-1 well spud in H1 2016. According to ERHC, the preliminary analysis of drilling resulted in encouraging information for further exploration.
The objective of the Tarach-1 well was to establish a working petroleum system and test a three-way structural closure trapping against a North-South trending normal fault. During drilling two different hydrocarbon charged intervals were encountered, the first extending over 100 meters. ERHC said that the significant oil shows and highly-elevated gas readings encountered by the well indicate the presence of a working petroleum system with the strong possibility of significant hydrocarbon generation.
The well has been plugged following conclusion of drilling and post-well analysis continues.
