ENI achieved what it terms as an “important milestone” offshore Egypt. The company saw its production reach 700 Mmcf/d of gas or 128,000 boepd from the Nooros field in the Nile Delta. This production rate comes just 13 months after the field’s discovery.
The Italian firm said that the record-setting production was reached ahead of schedule and attributes it to the success of the last exploration wells drilled in the area of Nidoco and the drilling of new development wells. It is an important achievement within ENI’s near field exploration strategy, aimed to unlock the presence of additional exploration potential located in proximity to the existing infrastructure.
The production of 700 Mmcf/d is currently guaranteed by seven wells; furthermore, with the drilling of additional wells, the field is expected to reach a maximum production capacity of about 160,000 boepd in Q2 2017.
ENI is partnered with BP on the Nooros field.
