Flows Expected from Uganda’s Kingfisher in 2021

Thursday, May 31, 2018

CNOOC revealed that the Kingfisher oil field in Uganda will begin production in 2021, three years after making the FID. The company, and its partners Total and Tullow Oil, are expected to take the FID before the end of this year.

The Kingfisher oil field is expected to produce between 30,000 and 40,000 bpd.

According to Likun Kuang, CFO of CNOOC Uganda Ltd., this production will be essential in supplying the 60,000 bpd refinery that the government is adamant about constructing. A consortium led by GE was awarded the contract to build the refinery in April.
