It was announced last week that Geo-Chem Middle East, an independent inspection and testing company, was awarded a contract from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). KEBS is the government agency responsible for establishing and governing metrology standards for the country’s petroleum imports.
Geo-Chem Middle East has set up shop in Mombasa with an office and laboratory from which it will operate from to carry out the contract work, which includes the testing of all petroleum product imports to ensure that their quality conforms to global standards.
The company will issue certificates on the quality and quantity of the imports, which will be used for the purpose of calculating taxes.
