PRESS RELEASE–HOUSTON − August 29, 2006 − INTEQ has launched the CoPilot® Real-Time Drilling Optimization service to introduce a step change improvement in oil and gas drilling performance and risk management. Built around a new, versatile downhole data acquisition and diagnostic tool, the CoPilot service delivers enhanced wellsite efficiency, increased BHA reliability and improved borehole quality.
The CoPilot downhole tool simultaneously samples 14 sensor measurements for real-time assessment of downhole drilling parameters. On the surface, a rigfloor display permits the driller to view downhole dynamics data and make real-time corrective decisions as needed. The CoPilot data may be integrated with INTEQ’s RigLinkSM and BEACONSM services to permit online sharing of information among various remote and office-based locations to facilitate collaboration for improved, real-time decisions. In addition to the system’s real-time applications, the CoPilot service can have a significant impact on an operator’s ongoing well planning and execution.
“Our CoPilot team works closely with the operator staff to develop a thorough well plan,” explained Gary Rich, INTEQ Vice President for Marketing. “At the wellsite, we monitor the well’s progress with real-time access to downhole dynamics and adjust drilling parameters as required to optimize drilling efficiency and BHA reliability. Once the well is completed, INTEQ analysts review the full set of data and results to further refine drilling programs in that field or similar fields.”
