Invensys Enters JV with ENPPI and EGAS

Thursday, March 13, 2008

Invensys Process System is expanding in the Middle East and North Africa region with the signing of a joint venture agreement in Egypt. The company is joining together with ENNPI and state-owned gas company EGAS to create an Industrial Automation Engineering Centre of Excellence.

“We will either adapt an existing building if we can find one that is suitable or use a purpose-built facility,” says the spokesperson. “It will have capacity for at least 400 people, and perhaps a lot more than that.” The center will focus on developing expertise for monitoring business processes in the oil and gas sector.

The joint venture will be headed by Mohamed Saad Yahia, Assistant Chairman of Enppi. Invensys will also appoint a General Manger to work on the project.

There are plans in the works to develop a similar center in the Middle East although no details were offered on that center. "There will probably be a deal during the coming year," an Invensys official said.
