Mamola Defender Could Join Sistership off West Africa

Monday, September 28, 2015

Promar revealed that the second PSV vessel constructed by the Damen Shipyards Group, the Mamola Defender, had its naming ceremony on September 23. The vessel is expected to go to join the first vessel delivered in the order, the Mamola Reliance, in West Africa.

Both vessels are at the forefront of technology in terms of equipment. The PSV 3300 design ensures reliability, excellent seakeeping behavior and low fuel consumption and CO2 emission.

During the construction of the vessel Promar had a team based in Romania to supervise the project with Damen Shipyards Galati. Promar will manage the vessel.

According to Jérôme Bouchardy, Head of Projects and Commercial Manager at Promar, “There was a fruitful collaboration between the Promar team and Damen. Thanks to a great professionalism of all teams as well as Damen excellent production capabilities, the project went well and was delivered on time. We are very proud to manage such a beautiful vessel. Like her sistership, Mamola Reliance, she has been designed and built to fulfil the highest requirements of the offshore industry. She features a broad package of options and is SPS compliant, offering therefore additional flexibility for clients.”

“This was a fantastic cooperation between PROMAR, the Ship-owners and Damen, for all the processes related to the building of these two vessels. We are sure these high quality PSVs will be appreciated by all business partners,” Damen Regional Sales Manager North, West and South Europe Andrea Trevisan comments. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at PROMAR. Building a ship is teamwork and the cooperation was excellent throughout this whole process. The team at PROMAR are professional and enthusiastic and we hope to be able to work with them again in the future.”
