MD-3 Shale Shaker from M-I Swaco gives Operators 3 Decks of Solids Control

Houston, Texas (Sept. 10, 2009) – When space is at a premium but high‐performance solids control is required, the new MD‐3* shale shaker from M‐I SWACO provides operators with the ability to meet their solids control challenges, offshore or on.

The small footprint of the MD‐3 shale shaker, along with its effective solids control options and the ability to adapt quickly to changing drilling conditions are hallmarks of the compact, high-performance unit. The shaker’s footprint matches the popular M‐I SWACO BEM‐650* shaker to simplify retrofitting into existing shaker houses.

The MD‐3 shaker comes standard with many features typically considered special‐order, including the fume‐extraction hood that reduces operator exposure to vapors associated with drilling fluids and prevents fluids from splashing outside the shaker boundaries.

The unique shaker has three decks of automated, effective solids control that translates to lower waste volumes as a result of drier cuttings. Higher feed rates increase project upside and reduce downtime for shaker repairs. The standard configuration has one scalping deck and two primary decks. Two modes of operation, 6.3 G’s of progressive elliptical or 7.2 G’s of balanced

elliptical movement, are available with a single‐switch adjustment. And screens replacement is a snap with the pneumatic actuators that hold them in place. Simply deactivate the pneumatic pressure and remove the lightweight composite screens to replace.
