New CEO for Sonatrach

The new president of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, appointed Tewfik Hakkar as the new President and CEO of Sonatrach on February 5. Hakkar, previously the Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Sonatrach, replaces Kamel Eddine Chikhi who was appointed to the post just a few months ago by Abdelkader Bensalah, then the interim president until December elections took place.

President Tebboune installed a new cabinet at the beginning of the year, confirming Minister of Energy Mohamed Arkab in his position.
