PA Resources and its partners have spud the Makouala Marine-1 exploration well offshore the Republic of Congo on Block Marine XIV.
The well’s planned depth is approximately 2,700 meters below mean sea level and will be drilled using the semi-submersible drilling rig ENSCO 5003. Drilling operations are expected to take approximately 30 days. The well is targeting a post-salt Sendji Formation reservoir within a four-way dip closed structure.
As a result of a farm-out in 2009, PA Resources’ costs for this well are carried by the other license partners. Partners on the block are Soco International with a 29.4% stake and operatorship, Lundin Petroleum with 21.55%, Raffia Oil SARL holds 21.55%, state-run SNPC has 15%, and PA Resources holds the remaining 12.5% stake.
