Oando Optimistic on Nigerian Production Recovery

Monday, May 29, 2017

Oando is optimistic that Nigeria can boost its production, despite the troubles the country has seen over the past year with flow disruptions. Pade Durotoye, Oando CEO, said while speaking at the Africa Independents Forum in London that he believed production could reach 2.2 million bpd by the end of June.

Durotoye told attendees that the long-closed Forcados oilfield could be back to capacity by the end of June, enabling a return to nearly full production. “We think that the worst is behind us,” Durotoye said. “Before the end of June, we will have Forcados back, which would take us comfortably back to 2.2 million bpd.”

Militant attacks in the Niger Delta have constrained Nigeria’s production, knocking it out of Africa’s number one producer spot for more than a few months.

Durotoye said that because of actions taken by the government in the area his company could potentially boost output from 50,000 bpd to 150,000 bpd within 12-18 months.
