Polish firm Polish Oil and Gas (POGC) saw a new wildcat discovery in the Murzuq Basin recently according to Libyan state-run firm NOC’s website.
The discovery was made on Area 113/1 with the drilling of the B1-113/01 well, its second discovery on the acreage. POGC has had access to Area 113/1 since signing the EPSA in 2008.
The well encountered gas in the Carboiferous Upper & Middle Awaynat Wanin formations. Initial production test results had the well flowing gas from the Upper Awaynat Wanin at a rate of 4 Mmcf/d; the Middle Awaynat Wanin also flowed at a rate of 4 Mmcf/d.
