ENI and BP received an uptick in field potential at the Baltim South West field following the drilling of their latest appraisal well offshore Egypt. The field’s resources rose 1 Tcf following the results of the Baltim South West 2X appraisal well.
The well was drilled immediately after the successful drilling of the Baltim South West 1X. The Baltim South West field is located in the conventional waters of the Nile Delta, in 82 ft of water and about seven miles from the coastline.
The Baltim South West 2X well encountered a gas column of 334 ft overall, with 282 net ft, in two sand layers of Messinian age with “excellent reservoirs.”
With the drilling of the Baltim South West 2X the gas potential of the Great Nooros Area has now reached 3 Tcf of gas in place.
