Shell’s Gabon Asset Sale Moving Forward

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

The sale of Shell’s assets in Gabon is progressing. Reports have the firm signing a deal with the Carlyle Group for its estimated $700 million Gabonese assets.

Currently the company’s Gabonese assets are under strike action by the country’s oil union. Shell’s Gabon staff began striking last week and are threatening further action. They want Shell to pay them damages even though the workers are expected to be kept on by the Carlyle Group.
