Soco Exits DRC Block V

Soco International revealed that it no longer holds stakes in Block V in the DRC. The company halted operations last year amid environmental and human rights protests due to the block’s location. Block V lies half in the Virunga National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorilla.

“Soco has ceased to hold the Block V license,” the company said in a single-sentence statement on its website.
